Shelby Steamblock® Gloves "protect the back of the hand from steam".
Glove is a Shelby® Koala Tanned leather wristlet style comprised of an outer-shell, moisture barrier (liquid/fluid), and thermal liner.
The glove has an additional Firewall® Steamblock® insulating pad between the outer-shell and moisture barrier on the back of the hand. Additionally, it extends circumferentially not less than 2 inches beyond the wrist crease and is close fitting to restrict the entry of embers and other debris.
The Shelby® Firewall® Steamblock® glove was designed and developed to be used for shipboard fire fighting. The Firewall® Steamblock® adds a thermal barrier to the glove's back, giving more protection against steam burns. This innovative new glove is constructed, tested and labeled in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) Standard on Protective Ensemble for Structural Fire Fighting, NFPA 1971, 2007 Edition.
